We love nothing more than a wedding where every guest and member of the bridal party is smiling in every photo; a true sign of the happiest day! This was quite simply what Carli & Alex’s wedding was about – loving relatives and proud friends coming together to help a wonderful couple celebrate their special day. At last, we’ve had a chance to sit down (with a cup of tea of course!) and have a good look through Pippa Mackenzie’s incredible portfolio of images from the day. We’re so excited to be able to share this blog post with you and show you some beautiful photos. Enjoy!
Carli & Alex chose the stunning Great Fosters in Egham (Surrey) and what a fantastic choice. A historical, picturesque and beautiful venue that worked brilliantly well for a winter wedding.
Pre-ceremony both Bride and Groom were relaxed and calm and it was obvious they were so excited to be married! There were lots of smiles and hugs behind the scenes and we could tell it was going to be a momentous day, not just for Carli & Alex but their children too.
Floral design was by Simon Nickell and his team who created a gorgeous white tree arch along the aisle accompanied by beautiful white pillar candles, tea lights and ivory flowers; a wonderful reflection of a winter wedding without it feeling ‘Christmassy’ or festive – after all, the day was about Carli & Alex, not the lead up to Christmas!
We’ve recognised that weddings really aren’t seasonal anymore and couples are choosing to tie the knot throughout the year – any time and season can work. However, one thing to point out if it’s in autumn or winter; be aware that the light can disappear very quickly after your ceremony. Your photographer will want to ensure all the priority photos (couple and group shots especially) are captured before the light fades! Pippa did a great job in achieving this and Carli & Alex’s guests were great at being in the right place at the right time for a picture!
In fact, Pippa took advantage of this wintery late afternoon sunset to create the gorgeous effect in this photo of Carli & Alex – arguably a more beautiful image than it perhaps would be at the same time on a summer’s day!
The wedding breakfast décor was effortlessly classic with soft ivories and whites following on from the ice white branches in the ceremony design. We loved the mini baubles that Carli had found to hold each guest’s name in – a really effective detail for the tablescape.
The after-dinner reception was a really important part of the day for Carli & Alex and they invested a great deal of thought and effort into transforming the barn for a dark, moody and sparkly evening party with black backdrops and dance floor brought to life by hundreds of small white lights to create the party atmosphere! They chose an amazing acapella band, The Overtones, alongside Sliding Vinyl DJ.
