Cake on a stick!

We always love a new product here at Bespoke and we were pleased to come across Pop Bakery via our friends at Daily Candy earlier in the year.

Just in time for wedding season, we’ve been going a bit Pop mad this summer. If you like chocolate and you like lollipops and most importantly you like cake, then you will probably like everything about Pop Bakery.

Here are photos of some of their lovely products, bespoke of course!  We wish you well Clare and the team.

Smilers

If you’re looking for an inexpensive but cute little personal touch to your wedding invites, then we think we’ve got just the thing.  We love these personalised stamps called ‘Smilers’ available from Royal Mail. For little more than the cost of a regular first class stamp, you get an image of your choice on your stamp which can be used for your wedding invitations and any other wedding correspondance you might be doing. The ‘love’ stamp below naturally lends itself to weddings but perhaps an engagement photo of the two of you is really fun?

Be Brave and Be Bold

We see a lot of brides who come to us clutching images that really appeal to them from beautifully styled bold and bright weddings, but when it comes to it, they chicken out of the things which might make their wedding go in that direction. They worry that it might be “too much”. Sure, we certainly don’t advise going for everything and overcrowding the tables; we definitely subscribe to the “less is more” mantra but that doesn’t mean it has to be white, plain or clear all around. Here are our favourite  three things for injecting some statement colour into your special day and in particular your dining tables.

Coloured linen– just because white table cloths are what you always see, doesn’t mean that’s all you can have. Sure, it works well and looks timeless and elegant (and it’s what most hotels and banqueting venues use) but if you want to have a bit of fun and inject a statement colour splash into your tables, it’s a cost effective and an immediately stunning way of doing it.  A cloth might be around £10 to hire and a napkin only 50p so it’s not an enormous cost.  If you don’t want to go the whole hog, perhaps consider a coloured runner to go across the middle of the table and rest on top of the white cloth.

Coloured water glasses – for a subtle dash of colour, we really like to use “accent of colour” glasses for water. It can get pricey to replace all the glasses at a venue but adding a touch of colour can add that extra special something to tone with flowers for example.

Charger plates – to set a grand and formal atmosphere, consider perhaps a beautiful charger platter which sits on the table during the entire meal and the plates that the meal is served on are positioned on top at each course. Before guests are seated, the charger is a lovely backdrop for a menu card to rest on or pocket-folded napkin to be positioned upon.

No more dress worries

Whilst enjoying a spot of retail therapy this past weekend, I came across a fantastic new service which I am excited to share with you.

A solution to the ‘will anybody have the same outfit as me? dilemma which many a wedding guest worries about - well the female ones anyway!

What r u wearing  sorts that problem out.  You, as the bride or event organiser registers your event on their website for free. I suggest then letting guests know in the formal wedding invitation that they should register on-line once their outfit is chosen; they can even register the outfit anonymously so as not to give the glamorous game away. I suggest registering bridesmaids outfits too to help guests avoid certain colours or styles.  Inspired!

The bride probably doesn't need to register her dress!

We love ribbon

Here at Bespoke, we are always armed with reels of ribbon at our weddings.

It comes in handy for all sorts of little last minute touches which make a big difference. We therefore find ourselves a little addicted to ribbons and love some of the offerings on one of our favourite sites Cox and Cox. Their spools of ‘Luxembourg Ribbon’ in delicate shades of pink, sage green, ivory and chocolate are lovely to wrap around napkins, or decorate glasses with pretty little bows. We also really like the ‘To Have and To Hold Ribbon’ made in soft ivory and old rose pink; it’s great for tying around flowers or special gifts.

And if you’re ribbon addicts like us (and are based in London) you might like to drop by Barnett Lawson. It’s a little gem of a place and a real treasure trove full to the brim with ribbons and trimmings galore.

Tidy Confetti Cones

Those who know me well, know that my own natural style is pretty organised, structural and tidy. As a result I particularly like things which tick those boxes and it’s probably no surprise that I like an ordered confetti cone carrier! These ones from Cox and Cox are not new on the market but they are still a favourite of mine – such a simple design where the cone pops into the specially prepared ivory base and can be carried round to guests for them to remove neatly.  Ideal for confetti on the move for an ordered bride with a simple, elegant theme.

In need of shelter

Yes, the summer weather is doing its worst and sadly there is nothing we can do to stop it from raining or needing us to crank up the heating in June, however we can roll with it and do some planning. Whilst installing heaters are pricey, hiring umbrellas is not. Available from our sister company are large numbers of great quality ivory golf umbrellas and they are flying off the shelves at the moment. Priced at £6 each, they are a bargain when you consider the cost of getting those wedding outfits wet! We have lots of useful practical products to help things run smoothly and for the rest of June we are offering £10 off with order values over £100. Go to www.eventful-hire.com for the full brochure.
