Pay attention to lighting. Good and effective lighting that enhances the mood can make a huge difference. How often do you avoid a restaurant if it looks too brightly lit for your romantic meal out? I certainly do and the same applies to weddings. Look at the overhead lighting on offer in your venue or marquee and see if it dims or brightens bearing in mind that the time of day you will be there might be different to the time your wedding will be. Look at adding candles onto tables which can add a lovely glow as night sets. Consider hiring in uplighters which can give a fantastic colour wash to a room – ambers and golds work well with woods but white is the most fabulous backdrop and you get a fantastic glow with purples and pinks or indeed with LED you can change during the course of the day and evening according to your mood!
